Rules for all clinics
Read all rules carefully. Some clinics are open to Wildwind students only. Others are open to anyone meeting the criteria for the clinic.
- All participants must wear helmets. They are provided if you do not have one.
- All participants, including parents, must wear long pants and closed toed shoes.
- Everyone must fill out a liability form which is available online.
- Children showing up without a signed liability form will not be able to participate but will be expected to pay.
- One (1) adult must attend class with students under age 8. (There is no charge for the adult.)
- Cancellation 24 hours in advance allows you to reschedule.
- No refunds will be given after registration. We will only offer rescheduling for another clinic.
- Current Wildwind students bringing a friend to "Introduction to Horses" will attend free. (You must register at the office.)
- Check on Bulletin Board for updates.
Introduction to Horses
Price: $30.00. Parents accompanying young children are free.

Have you always wanted to learn about horses but never had the time? Our 2 hour seminars will get you hands-on time with an instructor and a number of horses. Each of the following sessions will have slightly different information. Students will get to groom and saddle as well as do mounted and unmounted activities. Students age 5-7 must be accompied by a parent. Students age 8 thru senior citizens will love trying something new. All riders under 18 must have a parent fill out a liability form (download a copy) or get one from the barn before they come. All students must wear long pants and shoes that fully enclose the foot. Who May Attend: Wildwind Students only. Walk, Trot riders approved by their instructor; any Walk, Trot, Canter and Jump Riders. Senior citizen riders are welcome.
An instructor is on hand to supervise practice rides; beginners learn the rules of the ring, and staying safe. Other schooling riders will just have fun riding with their friends. Jump riders will have the chance to practicing some extra jumping at their current height. Depending on the number of people and the weather, riders may be divided into groups, according to ability.

Obstacle Course Challenge Clinic

Are you tired of the same old boring arena activities with your horse? Here is your chance to fine tune your horse's listening skills with our Obstacle Course Challenge. Horse and rider will have to learn to do maneuvers, such as sidepass and backing, and work to get your horse over potentially scary objects. First we will work on each obstacle then we will put them all together in a challenge course for horse and rider. The course will be timed and the winner will receive a prize! Come have fun and learn new skills and ways of communicating with your horse.

Open to approved riders.
Did you miss the first one? If you did, now is your chance to give game play on horseback a try, and of course return gamers are welcome too! In this clinic you and your horse will bond in a new way. Refresh your minds and learn that spending time working on other activities and playing games can be very beneficial. Some of the games that will be played are Keyhole, Eggcelent Relay Race, the Boot Game, and Bucket Ball. All of the games help to fine tune your balance, control, and coordination.

Who Should Attend: Adults Only
This is an In-depth look into the horse, looking for signs of colic, sickness, taking temperature, respiratory sounds, and stomach sounds. We will talk about health care programs for your horse: dentistry, hoof care, worming, and vaccinations. Learn the pulse points on your horse and what to look for. Watching for lameness, what to do if your horse is lame. How to clean and treat cuts and what every owner should have in their first aid box.
This Clinic is great for any new owners, or owners who would like to learn more. Great for anyone interested in learning more about horses medical care.

Thinking about showing this summer? Then this is a must-attend clinic! This clinic will help you learn what it takes to get your horse or pony ready to go to the show. Learn about clipping, mane pulling, and braiding. Find out how to wrap legs for shipping and give it a try yourself. Learn about boots and polo wraps, why they are used, how to put them on, and how to make sure they fit properly. And don't forget about your tack! You'll also learn how to properly clean and condition your tack so it is show ready too.

Come and find out just how much you can do with ground poles! Learn how to set up, space and use ground poles for more than just straight line trotting. This clinic will help you improve control and communication with your horse. This ground work will help you to build strength and improve your jumping skills without ever having to leave the ground.
